Lush UK&I, a popular cosmetic brand that has recently announced their impressive sales figures for the holiday season.
Lush UK&I reported sales of £40.5m in December, exceeding forecasts and beating last year's sales by 13.1%. It's also worth noting that these sales figures are up 11% compared to pre-pandemic sales in 2019. The physical retail sales were particularly strong, with a growth of 18% versus 2021.
According to Kat Hannible, the Lush UK&I Retail Director, the brand was confident that they would see a return to a more traditional Christmas trading pattern this year. As a result, they increased their stock levels and seasonal recruitment to provide the best possible experience for their customers. And it looks like their optimistic preparation paid off!
Lush UK&I has also made some exciting investments in retail and new brand collaborations leading up to Christmas. They invested £7.4m in growing their retail estate across the UK and Europe, opening new shops, relocations and refits, with the biggest shop opening in Dundrum Town Centre in Ireland. They also launched a new spa experience based on their cult fan favourite seasonal product collection. And, they opened The Lush Lounge, an entirely free, immersive space with complimentary gifting in London’s Westfield, White City. Additionally, Lush launched a series of licensing collaborations with popular Japanese anime ONE PIECE, Netflix’s Stranger Things, and its first-ever brand x brand collaboration with independent streetwear brand, Lazy Oaf.
In the UK&I, Lush sold more than 240,000 of its popular Snow Fairy gift sets in the run up to Christmas, along with hundreds of thousands of stand-alone products from the cult Christmas range. It's worth noting that all Lush products are made fresh and by hand, by real people at one of their seven global manufacturing sites. At their UK site in Poole, Dorset, specially trained compounders and production assistants pressed over 879,330 Snow Fairy bath bombs, poured 153,700 Snow Fairy Lush Melts and sliced more than 326,640 Snow Fairy bubble bars in the run up to Christmas.
In conclusion, Lush UK&I had an incredibly successful holiday season, with strong physical retail sales and exciting new brand collaborations and investments in retail. And, with their commitment to handmade, fresh products, it's no surprise that customers continue to be excited about Lush.
